Finding paragraph #2
Another of my many questions was, "Why did more soldiers die of infections rather than the wounds themselves?" After researching the question I found at that, in fact, many soldiers indeed died of infection rather than injuries from gunshots or other kinds of fire. During that time if you were shot in the arm or leg you would most likely Have to get it amputated and because of the poor camp conditions during the Civil War infection was almost positive. However, there was more than one reason people got infection. One of which, was the fact that the tools they used to operate on them were poorly clean, or just not clean at all. The soldiers would die or almost die from these things which was even worse than dying of gunshots.
